Gene Baethke scores the 2-point PAT to give the Braves the win, 8-6, over the BGM Bears. It was the Braves’ first victory over the long-time Poweshiek County nemesis since 1960. Mark VerSteegt, who also stars on the school’s XC team, made two unassisted tackles on punts in front of a homecoming crowd of 1,989.

Ronnie Taylor completed a 40-yard TD pass to Marvin Gass to lead Coach Gayle Creswell’s JH Braves to an 18-8 win over a big Williamsburg team. Sandy Landstrum rushed for 191 yards on 21 carries.
Roger Cox is one of 1,410 freshman cadets who have entered the U. S. Air Force Academy class of 1974.
