A MEMORABLE PERFORMANCE by this memorable cast was the All-School Play “Huck Finn”.  Bringing the glimpse of Mark Twain literature to life on the stage were from left, Sandy Hildebrand, cast as Clara; Gayle Poe, playing Melba; seated, Fred Gregory as Tom Sawyer and Kerry Hudnut as Amy; standing, Ann Peterson as Mary Jane with the star of the show, Bill Van Cleave as the one and only Huck Finn; Mike Smith as Father Finn with Nancy Fleming, who played Polly; and seated, Carl Engelbarts as Fred with Joy Bryan, who played Ruth.

Grinnell’s Marty O’Connor, a former teacher-coach and now secretary of the Grinnell Federal Saving and Loan, is trying to unseat the veteran Jasper County Democratic Senator, Eugene Hill.

New arrival at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Lee Roy Cheney is Tamara Lynn Cheney. She was born October 25 and weighed 6 pounds and eight ounces.

Star Lanes continues its parade of stars. Former Searsboro cager, June Williams, bowls a high game of 206 on her way to a 503 series. Don Fahlenkamp bowls in two leagues, recording a high game of 212 and high series of 581.

Janice Schultz is the Montezuma Republican’s Holiday Hostess with her recipe for Oven Caramel Corn.

No school Friday, October 26, as the teachers attend the 116th Iowa State Education Association State Convention in Des Moines.

The South 3rd Street boys, Dave Fisch and Lee Sharer, help the Braves to a 30-0 victory over Sigourney. Fisch scored a TD on 55-yard run. His neighbor, Sharer, countered with a 74-yard TD romp.  

Two undefeated teams, Belle Plaine and Montezuma, will put their perfect, 7-0, records on the line next Friday night @ Belle Plaine.
