The Montezuma Merchants will open their stores from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. beginning December 16 through December 23.

The Bravettes defeat Winfield-Mt. Union, 108-82, in the evening finale of the IGHSAU clinic before a record crowd of 2,000 (no social distancing 50 years ago). It was their 63rd straight victory. Van Cleave poured in 49 points. Meissner added 39 points.

NAMED HONORARY MEMBERS OF THE Montezuma FFA Chapter at the annual Parent-Son Banquet were Dennis James of James Feed & Supply, at left, and High School principal Lewis Lundy. They were the 34th and 35th persons to be received into honorary membership on the 34th anniversary of the founding of the chapter. Approximately 140 person attended the dinner where Miss Ann Peterson was crowned Chapter Sweetheart.

Testimony started Tuesday afternoon here in District Court in the trial of Carroll Hammond, who is accused in the fatal shooting of Gerald Linn on May 8 near a Searsboro tavern.

Ann Peterson was selected as the local FFA Chapter Sweetheart.

A one month switch: Vocational Agriculture boys will be taking Home Economics from Miss Erickson, while the Senior Home Economics class will be taking Vocational Agriculture under the instruction of Mr. Sheetz.

Coach Brand announced the 1971 football tri-captains, Eugene Baethke, Bill Van Cleave and Mike Smith, at the post-season Father-Son football banquet. The food was prepared and served by the mothers.

Karen Hall’s 21 points lead the JH Bravettes past English Valleys, 62-13.
