Edwin Bryan opens “Fun Valley” with skiing and snowmobiling to take place if there is enough natural snow. A rope lift for skiers is under construction and lights have been installed to illuminate approximately five acres.
Roger and William Henkel were honored for their long-time service with Pioneer Seed Division.
Peg Watts played one of the best games of her career hitting 32 points as the Bravettes defeated BGM, 108-61. Brenda Braley led the Lady Bears with 33 points.
Mrs. Lyle Anderson hosts a bridal shower for Miss Delores Hartman, the fiancée of Jim Wehrle.
Mr. & Mrs. Cornie Sterk announce the engagement of their daughter, Connie, to Rick Bryan.
Little Patricia McKee is pictured with her mother, Marlene, who is sharing her recipe for Sugar Cookies as the Montezuma Republican’s Holiday Hostess. Patricia plans to share them with her big brother, Billy. Not really.
Miss Kathy Good became the bride of Jack Grife on Sunday, November 15, at the First United Presbyterian Church in Montezuma.
Montezuma native, John Wemer, has been named Assistant Cashier of the Poweshiek County National Bank at Waterloo.
Mrs. Max (Thelma) Johnston tests the new sophisticated electronic time and music instrument housed on the second floor of the courthouse as part of the Klindt Memorial. (We still enjoy the music today).
Poweshiek County has 1,396 farms and a rural population of 5,162, according to the annual farm census released by the U. S Department of Agriculture.
Mr. & Mrs. Elmer Urfer have two boys serving in the military. Sam is a naval hospital corpsman. Army Pvt. Ron Urfer is currently attending automotive school at Aberdeen, Maryland.
Ed Henry bowls a high series of 569 for the men while Pat Van Cleave takes the ladies’ honors with a 501.
