Montezuma Mayor Hedrick receives a very nice letter from the family of the late Martha Klindt, regarding how pleased they are with the memorial bell system.

Bravettes defeat SEMCO 114-51 for 78th straight win!  Coach Willrich’s guards, Deb Stripling, Roxanne Dalbey, Deanna Phelps, Melanie Fleming and Vicki Arnaman combined for a whopping 44 pass interceptions in the game.  Stripling led in rebounds with nine.

The “K Road” from highway 85 to the Brooklyn interchange at I-80 is to be graded with paving a “future possibility”.

William Rempp has been named to receive a special award for his excellence in corn growing in recognition of his 151.7 bushel corn yield.

Coach Carroll Rugland’s Bravettes, already owners of more records than the Beatles, beat the EV girls, scoring at a pace of 3.96 points per minute to rack up 127 points!

Craig Latcham leads Coach Creswell’s JH boys to victory over North Mahaska by scoring 18 points and pulling down 12 rebounds.

Montezuma native Joe Hutchinson has been named cashier and elected to the board of directors for the Laurens State bank at Laurens, Iowa.

Dale Watson, Civil Engineering, has been named to the Dean’s List at ISU in Ames.  No word from Drake University regarding local students named to the Dean’s List.

On January 19, 1971, the UCLA Bruins lost a basketball game to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.  They would not lose again until exactly three years later, January 19, 1974, to Notre Dame again, ending a streak of 88 consecutive victories.
