High school senior Sandy Hildebrand is selected as Montezuma School’s 1971 Betty Crocker Homemaker of Tomorrow.

The Bravettes come from behind to beat Benton at Newhall, winning their 81st consecutive game, breaking the record of 80 held by the Paullina boys basketball team.  Guard Melanie Fleming came off the bench to put the clamps on the Benton forwards.  Super Sandy dropped in 47 points.

Two Deep River ladies, Marcia Winegarden Reitzler and Shirley Burggraff Beaver, receive their degrees from the University of Iowa.

Stephen Drafahl is promoted to Staff Sgt.  He is an aircraft electronic navigation equipment technician at AFB in North Carolina.

Airman Guy Drahfal is #1 in his class at Lowry Air Force Base in Colorado.  He will graduate as a Nuclear Weapons Specialist in the field of electronics.

Montezuma Lions Club donates $100 to help prevent the abandonment of the railroad lines between Montezuma and Hills.

Airman First Class David Gorsuch is on duty at Phan Rang AB, Vietnam.  He is a weapons mechanic in a unit of Pacific Air Forces.

Bravette coaches, Carroll Rugland and Ron Willrich, were presented gifts from fans after their team broke the state consecutive victory record.  Rugland now owns a pool table and Willrich has a set of new golf clubs.
