The No. 1 ranked Braves open the tournament trail with an 83-39 win over Twin Cedars behind 27 points by Bill Van Cleave.  The Sabers were coached by Ed Dieleman, brother of MHS faculty member Merle Dieleman.

The Montezuma FFA Chapter will host the sub-district contest for the first time since 1961 according to FFA advisor and Voc. Ag. Instructor Ron Sheetz.

The Bravettes improved their season record to 25-0 by beating Pella Christian for the Sectional Championship, 96-75, before a Montezuma Gym standing room only crowd of 2,100 people!  It was the Bravettes’  86th straight victory!

Postmaster Harold Lofgreen gives a guided tour to the Junior Girl Scouts Troop 110.  Afterwards they went to Kim Craver’s for refreshments, according to notes from secretary Beth Hansen.

Airman Gary Hildebrand, MHS ’64, has arrived for duty at Vandenberg  AFB, California.  He previously served in Turkey.

News from Barnes City:  The Happy-Go-Lucky Club met for an all day meeting with Nina Current. 

The local Future Homemakers of America under the guidance of Miss Erickson, spent a day in Des Moines learning about low-income living, visiting a jail and day care center.

Lana Vogt & Allene Fleming each bowled a high game of 212. Lawrence Fleming bowled a 203 on his way to a high series of 557.  The local dentist, Sam Mummey, has a 591 series while the science teacher and the pride of Danville, Paul D. Jones, rocks Star Lanes with a 242 high game!
