BROOKLYN – The wrestling season came to an end at the district level for a pair of Montezuma matmen on Saturday, Feb. 13.
Kennen Roadcap at 285 pounds and Marshall Rovedo at 120 both lost a pair of matches and placed fourth in their respective weight classes.
In order to qualify for the state meet, a wrestler had to place first or second.
Roadcap qualified during last week’s regional meet.
Rovedo got to compete after the wrestler who qualified by placing above him in the regional had to default because of injury.
120 – Marshall Rovedo – did not place
Semifinals – Garrett Funk, Don Bosco, pinned Rovedo, :33.
Third place – Cole Smith, Baxter, pinned Rovedo, 2:31.
285 – Kennen Roadcap, did not place
Semifinals – Mark Ortner, Don Bosco, pinned Roadcap, 3:23.
Third place – Xander Bradley, North Tama, pinned Roadcap, 1:09.
