NORTH ENGLISH – The wrestling Braves opened 2025 against some tough opposition at the English Valley Duals on Saturday, Jan. 4.
The Braves went 0-5 as a team, although matches against Grinnell, and English Valleys were competitive.
Braves 215-pounder Braxton Plants suffered his first loss of the season, a 14-8 decision at the hands of Carson Grier of Williamsburg. But Braxton bounced back with three pins and a forfeit win to go 4-1 on the day.
At 190, Brett Plants went 3-2 on the day.
Cael Cheney also was 3-2, with all of his victories coming via forfeit – but – he put in the work, made the weight and wound up getting his hand raised three times!
