Montezuma’s wrestlers hosted four other schools for dual meets on Thursday, Dec. 2, and the Braves fared pretty well.
Given Montezuma’s small numbers, it’s not really fair to gauge the Braves’ success by dual meet scores, because they don’t fill even half the weight classifications.
Looking at the Braves as individuals, they won 12 of 19 matches they were involved in. They scored eight pins.
Zach Bennett at 182 was 3-0 on the night, including a pin in 10 seconds against his opponent from Cardinal. Brett Plants at 195 followed Bennett’s pin with one of his own – in 12 seconds – in that Cardinal dual.
Marty Knox was 3-1 at 195 and 220, and scored a 20-second pin against Baxter.
Gabe Wearmouth was 2-1 at 160.
Kennen Roadcap at 285 was 2-2 at a weight that featured quite a bit of talent.
UP NEXT – The Braves’ Montezuma Invitational has been canceled for this year, but Montezuma will compete in a tournament at Pekin on Saturday, Dec. 4.
