MHS girls of wrestling open with some wins

A BGM team fall is scored by a Montezuma contestant in the first night of girls wrestling. (Submitted).

Girls wrestling has come to Montezuma, or rather it has gone to BGM.

Montezuma and BGM signed a sharing agreement for the new Iowa girls sport of wresling, and three Bravettes are going over to Brooklyn to be part of BGM’s 15-girl team.

The girls were involved in their first meet of the season on Thursday, Nov. 17.

The three Montezuma girls are Taya Sincox, Coral Lowry and Taytin Chamberlin.

Sincox, at 130 pounds, won one of her three matches in the opener, that via a fall.

Lowry, at 135, won two of three, both of the wins by fall.

Chamberlin is also working at 135 pounds.

It’s a collar-to-elbow hookup for a Montezuma girls wrestler, right, and her opponent. (Submitted).
