Montezuma has eight high school wrestlers practicing under Coaches Josh Kriegel and Mike Plants.
The squad includes a blend of experienced wrestlers, and some younger faces.
The Braves are scheduled to open their season on Thursday, Dec. 1, in Sigourney.
Senior Kennen Roadcap has been a four-year mainstay for the Braves.
He had an injury-plagued junior year, but managed to put together at 16-13 record, mostly at 220 pounds. He placed third at the sectional, just one step shy of the state finals.
Senior Marty Knox was 18-8, mostly at 195 pounds. He was fifth in the sectionals.
Sophomore Brett Plants was 14-14, with much of his action coming in the 170-pound weight class. He was fourth at sectionals as a freshman.
Also out for the sport are freshmen Owen Desrochers, Damien Knox. Braxton Plants and Isaac Wedgewood.
Also, junior Landen Morrison.
“Braxton Plants, Brett Plants and Kennen Roadcap all put time in the off-season by going to wrestling camps and tournaments during the summer, and attending open mats,” Coach Josh Kriegel said.
“We look to have a solid group of young men that want to work hard toward their goals. Hopefully, the hard work over the off-season for some of our guys pays off when the district tournament comes around.”
