Business/Organization Cancellations

Montezuma Community School District

…The Iowa Governor recommended that all schools close from March 16 through April 10 and school would resume on Monday, April 13. Montezuma Schools will follow this recommendation. We will have no evening school meetings or extra-curricular activities taking place at Montezuma until April 13. We have many questions and are awaiting guidance from the Governor’s office and the Iowa Department of Education. We will continue to send out information to our parents, students, staff, and community as information becomes available…”

Montezuma Community School FREE Grab & Go Breakfast/Lunch
Montezuma Schools is offering Free Grab & Go Breakfast and Lunches for students 2-18 years old beginning March 19 for the duration of the shutdown.

Sign-Up by emailing aradeke@montezuma.k12.ia.us or calling 641-623-5121. Pick up is located at the Northwest doors where the buses pick students up at the end of the school day.

We will officially be closing to the public this Thursday. (March 19)…We anticipate being closed for a month. More details to follow.”

The City of Montezuma and Montezuma Utilities are committed to mitigating the spread of COVID-19. For this reason, the City Hall building is closed to visitors effective immediately until further notice.

Residents are strongly encouraged to make payments online through your bank or leave checks in the drop-box located left of the front entrance. We strongly encourage you to limit your physical interactions as much as possible.

We are now an entirely drive-up pantry. Please drive in from the west (where the Community Hope Church sign is) and form a line BEHIND the pantry. You will see a door on the back side. Please wait in line until you are at the door.

Stay in your car and we will provide instructions.

You will exit using the drive to the east (by the school).

Fresh produce and bread will likely be very limited, I will provide more details on this later.

Poweshiek County Supervisors

Effective March 18 – until further notice: Due to COVID-19 and public health concerns, Poweshiek County is taking steps to protect employees and the public. Poweshiek County has elected to close their offices to the public to limit the spread of COVID-19.

If you are planning to visit one of the county offices, please call ahead to see if you can conduct your business electronically or over the phone. Our employees will continue to perform essential county services by appointment. Law enforcement services will continue with extra protocols in place. Essential court proceedings are still taking place. Our goal is to protect the citizens and employees of Poweshiek County.

Please contact the department by phone if you have questions regarding services. The current instructions pertaining to county services are listed below:

County attorney: Closed to public but working daily until further notice. Please call 641-623-5135 with any questions.

County Treasurer: Closed to public but working daily until further notice. There is a drop box inside the south entrance to courthouse for payments and payments can still be mailed. Online property tax and vehicle tax payments can be made at www.iowataxandtags.org Please call 641-623-5128 (Tax) or 641-623-2137 (Motor Vehicle) with any questions.

Driver’s License: Poweshiek County is suspending driver’s license services. Driver’s license can be renewed at Ankeny or Marshalltown at this time. Please call 641-623-3101 with any questions.

Recorder’s Office: Closed to public but working daily until further notice. There is a drop box inside the south entrance to the courthouse for documents/payments. Public access to land records and vital records stored in the Recorder’s vault is not allowed, therefore no genealogy searches or unnecessary land record searches may be performed until further notice. Land records may be accessed at www.iowalandrecords.org from 1993 to present. Boat, snowmobile and ATV/UTV license renewals can be performed by mail. Hunting and fishing licenses can be performed online at www.iowadnr.gov . Certified copies of birth, death, & marriage records can be obtained through the mail. Please call 641-623-5434 for more information.

Sheriff’s Office: Sheriff’s Office recommends calling ahead to 641-623-5679 to see if you can conduct business electronically or over the phone. The office will remain open but with limited operation of services. Inmate visitation is canceled (only attorney professional visits allowed); all public fingerprinting, citizen ride-alongs, public facilities tours are canceled. If you have questions regarding the Coronavirus do not call dispatch, call 211 and the Iowa Department of Health will answer those questions.

County Auditor: Closed to public but working daily until further notice. Passport services are suspended until further notice. Nomination papers for June 2 Primary and November 3 General Election will be accepted in office. Please call for appointment. Requesting an absentee ballot by mail for the Primary Election (may be received now until May 22) and General Election (cannot receive until July 6) is strongly encouraged. Voter registration is recommended to be conducted by mail, through the Iowa Department of Transportation Driver’s License or Iowa Secretary of State Websites. Fiscal year 2021 city, township and school budgets will be accepted in the office. Please call for appointment. Please call 641-623-5443 with questions or further information.

County Assessor: Closed to public but working daily until further notice. Filings for homestead, military, veteran, and business tax credits are encouraged to be filed electronically or by mail. Forms are available by calling the office. Please call 641-623-5445 for further information or questions.

County Supervisors: Will be holding their normal Monday and Thursday board meetings as usual. Please call 641-623-5723 with questions.

County Conservation: Offices and park facilities will be closed to public, but parks and wildlife areas will remain open for visitors. Staff is working daily until further notice. Please call 641-623-3191 with questions.

Clerk of Court (State Office): Open for court-related services. There is a drop box at the south entrance of courthouse for any court related documents/payments. Please call 641-623-5644 for more information or questions.

Secondary Roads: Office closed to public but still working daily until further notice. Please call 641-623-5435 with questions.

Sanitarian/Zoning: Office closed to public but still working daily until further notice. Please call 641-623-3762.
