Montezuma wins the ‘Bravettes Classic’

The Bravettes kept their bats going from the first game and won the ‘Bravettes Classic’ softball tournament on Saturday June 17.

Montezuma closed it out with an 8-3 win over Moravia.

The Bravettes rapped out 13 hits, giving them a two-game total of 28 safeties on the day!

The win leveled Montezuma’s season record at 9-9.

Montezuma led 4-0 after two innings, then scored three runs in the third to take a going-away 8-1 lead.

Madison Van Zee led the hit parade by going three-for-four.

Ellen Cook had two hits, including a double.

Kamryn Schmidt had two hits and a run batted in.

Jadyn Sharer had two hits.

The other four hits by the Bravettes were singles and the only hits by those players, but they were productive as they drove in runs.

Kallie Robison and Izzy Roorda each drove in two runs with their hits, and Jordan Ranfeld and Chloe Snook drove in one run each with theirs.

Vivian Cook stole two bases, while swiping one each were Snook, Van Zee, Sharer and Lily Ferry.

Starter and winning pitcher Robison threw five innings, allowed five hit and one run, which was earned. She didn’t walk a hitter and struck out one.

Leah Urfer finished up with two innings. He allowed two hits and two runs. She walked two and breezed three.

Moravia fell to 8-14.
