MONTEZUMA – It didn’t happen again, did it?
It did.
Moravia, down 7-4 heading into the seventh inning, scored four runs, then held Montezuma scoreless in the bottom of the inning to score an 8-7 walk-off win on Saturday, June 21.
There were a lot of hits (12 by Montezuma, 11 by Moravia) in this one.
Syd Burgess went four-for-four at the plate and drove in one run.
Mya Smothers went three-for-four and had an RBI.
Vivian Cook went “yard” – a home run, in addition to a single, and had an RBI. Ellen Cook and Chloe Snook each had one hit.
Kamryn Schmidt had one hit and a run batted in.
The Bravettes stole four bases, but also made five errors.
Leah Urfer pitched the first 6 innings for the Bravettes. She gave up 9 hits and 8 runs, 5 of them earned. She walked 4 and struck out one.
Burgess threw the final inning, giving up two hits and one run, which wasn’t earned. She walked no one and struck out one.
The Bravettes tumbled to 4-8 on the season. Moravia climbed to 5-19.
