Multi-hit attack keys Bravettes

Montezuma had one of its better hitting nights of the season on Wednesday, June 16, lining out 17 of them in a 13-3, five-inning win over Iowa Valley at home.

Izzy Roorda and Kailey Shaffer led the assault with three hits each.

Roorda blasted two triples and drove in three runs.

Shaffer chased home two runners with her hits.

Four more Bravettes had four hits each.

Included in that list: Katie Reynolds, who drove in a run; Madison Van Zee, who drove in two runs and stole a base; Kallie Robison, and Tia Shaffer, who had an RBI and a stolen base.

Abby Pope hit a double and drove in three runs.

Also getting hits were Jadyn Sharer and Laila Kercheval.

Robison pitched the five-inning distance for the win. She allowed six hits and three runs, two of them earned, walked one and struck out four.

The win lifted the Bravettes to 6-13 on the season, including a 2-7 mark in league play.

Iowa Valley was at 4-12 and 2-7.
