LEGRAND – The Bravettes ran into a complete package of a softball team when they went on the road to East Marshall on Wednesday, June 29.
The Mustangs were 8-1 winners, blasting three home runs while getting 16-strikeout pitching from Morgan Neuroth.
The victory lifted East Marshall to 23-7 on the season.
East Marshall scored two runs in the first inning, then pushed its lead to 6-0 with four in the third.
Callyn Curphy went 3×3 at the plate for the Mustangs, with a double, two of the team’s three homers, and four runs batted in.
Pitcher Neuroth threw all seven innings, scattering five Montezuma hits.
Jadyn Sharer went 3×3 at the plate and scored Montezuma’s lone run.
Kallie Robison pitched six innings for the Bravettes. She allowed 11 hits, didn’t walk anyone and struck out one.
Robison also had a hit for Montezuma, and so did Tia Shaffer.
There were no stolen bases in this game and each side was guilty of just one error.
The defeat closed Montezuma’s regular season with a record of 9-16.
