COLFAX – The Montezuma volleyball team won its 20th match of the season with a 3-1 run past Colfax-Mingo on the road Monday evening, Oct. 6.
The Bravettes maintained their first place standing in the South Iowa Cedar League standings.
Colfax-Mingo played some good defense from time to time, which allowed them to get a win in the third set to avoid a shutout against the Bravettes, who showed strength in the various statistical categories.
Chloe Snook paced the Bravettes with 24 assists.
Syd Burgess had 13 kills in the match, while Lily Ferry had 12.
Snook and Leah Urfer each had three blocks.
Lauryn Larmore led with 25 digs.
Annaleece Kercheval was good on 19 of 19 serving attempts, and her teammates followed her example, with Mya Smothers getting in three ace serves, while Ferry had two and Burgess contributed one.
Montezuma went to 20-8 in all matches with their 14th consecutive win.
Colfax-Mingo is 8-11.
The Bravettes host Keota on Thursday, Oct. 9.
