Nine-run third inning keys girls’ win

COLFAX – A nine-run third inning keyed a 10-1 Bravettes softball win over Colfax-Mingo on Thursday, May 29.

The hitting of Lily Ferry and the pitching of Leah Urfer were big in this five-inning victory.

The Bravettes outhit their opponent 9-3.

Ferry went 2-for-3 at the plate with two runs batted in.

Kamryn Schmidt was 2-for-2, with a single, a double, and an RBI.

Gettin singles were Ellen Cook, Mya Smothers, Syd Burgess, Urfer and Lauryn Larmore.

Smothers and Urfer also with credited with 2 RBIs each.

Larmore and Vivian Cook had stolen bases.

The Bravettes made just one error.

Urfer threw all five innings, giving up 3 hits and one earned run. She walked two and struck out eleven.

This win lifted the Bravettes to 2-0, while their opponent fell to 9-2.
