SC0RES: No snow, but Braves start an avalanche

NORTH ENGLISH – Talk about riding into a low bridge!

Spotting their opponent an 8-6 lead, the Montezuma Braves hit English Valleys with a 29-0 scoring burst over just 2:35 of first quarter play. The Braves rolled to 423 yards of first half offense and a 63-26 lead.

You can guess the rest: The guys in the Bears uniforms got up, dusted themselves off and found their horses. But the Braves kept rolling and won 82-46 Friday night, Oct. 18.

The result took Montezuma’s season record to 6-2 and kept its playoff hopes very much alive.

Montezuma quarterback Eddie Burgess put up 502 yards of total offense, throwing for seven touchdowns and running for four more. Wide receiver Cole Watts caught 10 passes for 196 yards and five scores in the Montezuma blitz.

COME BACK – to this website later in the weekend for more details and stats.

Braves defenders Kodie Strong and Chandler Carl (57) are ready for action.
