SEARSBORO – It wasn’t a team trophy-winning day for Montezuma’s cross country runners at their own Montezuma Invitational meet on a sun-drenched Thursday afternoon, Oct. 5.
But it was good enough to make Coach Kevin Gartman look for or create a new logo when posting results on the team’s Facebook page.
The varsity boys continued to lower their time as a pack, which helps in team scoring. They were 4th out of 13 schools in this meet.
Jayden Ross was medalled at 13th and so did Carter McKee at 19th.
“Cael Cheney was in with a personal record by 40 seconds on a big-time run!” Gartman said.
The varsity girls were third out of the 13 in attendance.
Medalists were Ellen Cook (6), Vivian Cook (150 and Alivia Cline (19).
“Camryn Brennan had a new personal record by one second on a challenging course!” the coach said.
“It was a great night for our junior high runners across the board!” said Gartman.
The boys placed second out of five full teams. English Valleys won with 20 points, with the Braves not far behind with 23.
Medalists: Lauryn Larmore (4), Cade Lowry (6), Dayton Reif (8), Sophia Semprini (11) and Jaxon Young (11).
UP NEXT – Montezuma hosts the SICL neet on Tuesday, Oct. 10, at Big Springs.
