Montezuma vs. Southeast Warren was a very good game matching two good football teams and unfortunately, we wound up on the wrong end.
I was very proud of the effort the guys gave and the determined attitude throughout!
Like any game, it comes down to the little things and a few plays. We made too many mistakes and it cost us.
Turnovers, penalties, and a few missed assignments were big in the outcome of this game. However, we did a lot of things very well.
Up front we were very physical and we ran hard with our backs. Wideouts did a good job of securing the ball and Brady made some very good reads throughout the game.
Defensively, we tackled well for the most part and had them in multiple 3 and long or 4th down situations. We just need to finish off series more consistently.
We were tentative at times when attacking blocks and that cost us a bit and we had a couple of breakdowns in coverage.
With that being said, our grit and determination was there. The guys were flying around making plays all night long and showed that we can play a physical brand of football.
How we as a team respond to this game will be key. Having a growth mindset, learning from our mistakes, and getting better at the little things will go a long way for the rest of the season.
I am excited to see how the guys respond this week.Â
