SIGOURNEY – No Montezuma athletes won an event at the state qualifier meet on Thursday, May. 12.
To qualify, athletes had to win at the qualifier, or record a place finish that is among the top 14 from a total of 10 qualifying meets.
Ellen Cook placed second in the 3,000-meter run on the girls side, but wasn’t among the 24 qualifiers listed by the girls’ union.
The Bravettes placed seventh at the meet with 46 points. The Braves were in the 20s, well down in the standings. As of Sunday morning, we still haven’t seen listings from the state on the results from the qualifying meets. We’ll have them for you when we get them here on Montezuma Magazine, however, we likely will have to wait until the May 25 issue of The Record.
