Offenses boom as BP edges Braves

MONTEZUMA – Each team ripped 13 hits, but it was Belle Plaine that came out on top, 12-9, in baseball action on Monday evening, June 30.

The Braves rallied with a four-run seventh inning, but it left them three runs short.

For the Braves, Rett Pargeon went three-for-four with a double and three runs batted in.

Luke Erselius had two hits. Broox Stockman had two hits, a stolen base and a run batted in.

Nolan Hudnut had two hits.

Gavin Wilcox drove in two runs with a hit.

Ty Smothers and Ethan DesRochers each had a hit and a run batted in and Isaac Wedgewood added a hit.

The Braves made three errors.

Easton Hudnut started on the hill for Montezuma. He worked 5.0 innings, gave up 9 hits and 9 runs,8 of them earned. He struck out 3, hit wo, and struck out four.

Gavin Wilcox threw two innings, yielded 3 runs, all earned, struck out three and didn’t walk a batter.

For Belle Plaine, Quentin O’Leary had three hits. Will Sankot, Wade Sankot, Ty Alcott and Peyton Dostal each had two hits. The Plainesmen also stole three bases.

Wade Sankot pitched 5.2 innngs, give up 7 hits, 5 runs, three earned. He walked two, hit one and struck out 8.

Mason Walter pitched 1.1 innings, giving up 4 hits and 4 earned runs, all earned. He walked ond an fanned one.

Belle Plaine moved to 8-9 on the season, while the Braves fell to 4-12.
