Montezuma quarterback/kicker Owen Cook had a career night in the Braves’ 64-62 district championship game win over Baxter.

He had a prep career best of 437 passing yards on 32 completions in 49 attempts, including six touchdown passes to three different receivers.

Cook rushed 15 times for 37 yards and one score. That makes 474 yards of all-purpose yardage on 64 plays.

But if you include his kicking yards – and you had better! – He totaled 1,032 yards in this game!

Who does that?

Why and/or how more than 1,000 yards? He had 455 yards in total kickoff yardage, 75 yards on two punts, and 28 yards on the game-winning field goal. Add the 474 all purpose yards and the total is 1,032.

Throw in 100 yards for five PAT kicks (I didn’t), and it’s over 1,100.

But this was an incredible team win, was it not?

Was it ever! And Owen Cook would be the first to tell you that!
