Patty VerSteegt was given a host of gifts at her retirement party held in her honor on Friday, October 1.
Recognized as one of Montezuma High School’s most loyal fans, Patty was tickled to receive autographed basketballs from the Braves & Bravettes.
When not cheering on the locals, Patty can be found rooting for the Iowa State Cyclones.
Patty VerSteeg retired after 40 years with the Poweshiek County treasurers office.
She began her career at the courthouse on July 1, 1981, occasionally helping the auto department when needed but spending most of her four decades with the treasurers office.
Patty credits the late Janice Schultz for helping her become more confident and considers the late Melody Ferneau as her mentor.
In retirement she plans to follow dreams which include helping young students learn how to read.
