For the second straight game, the Montezuma junior varsity girls started strong, but were unable to finish with a victory when they hosted Pella Christian on Tuesday, Nov. 24.
The Eagles came away with a 30-27 win in overtime.
Montezuma jumped out to a 16-6 lead after the first half. But the Bravettes were able to put up just 11 more points. Meanwhile, the Eagles put down 24.
The Bravettes led 8-2 after one quarter, had the 10-point halftime margin, and it was 21-16 heading into the fourth.
Pella Christian tied it at 24-24 to send the game into overtime, during which the Eagles hit two three-point baskets, to one by Montezuma.
Montezuma shot .214 from the field, which included 4-28 (.143) from two-point range.
The Bravettes led 36-29 in rebounds, and trailed just 17-18 in turnovers.
Jadyn Sharer led Montezuma with 13 points, including three-for-five on three-pointers. Alivia Cline scored eight points.
Kallie Robison and Korrinn Kehoe each grabbed seven rebounds for the Bravettes, who fell to 0-2 on the season.
