Are you ready for some post-season play?
We know the Montezuma volleyball team will be involved – EVERY team plays in post-season.
But football?
It has been a while. But the Braves are in contention for one of Class 8 District 4’s two playoff spots.
First, volleyball, where the Bravettes will be playing in the South Iowa Cedar League tournament on Monday, Oct. 14 and Thursday, Oct. 17.
Just where, we don’t know and it likely depends on how they do in their final league matches, Thursday at Iowa Valley and Monday at home against Sigourney.
All teams play in regional tournaments, which will be Oct. 22, 28, 31 and Nov. 5. Sites will be announced.
The state finals are at the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids, Nov. 12-15.
Pay attention to those Bravettes! They appear to be re-inventing themselves, kind of like a hurricane restructures its eyewall when it is strengthening.
Football has a way to go yet – four more games – almost half a season.
As of this writing HLV is 3-0 in district play.
Montezuma, Lone Tree and English Valleys all are at 2-1.
Iowa Valley and New London both are 1-2.
In cross country, the Class 1A state qualifying meets are on Thursday, Oct. 24. The state hasn’t listed which teams will be running where, although the closest possibilities in Class 1A appear to be Marshalltown and Iowa City Regina. The state meet is Nov. 2 in Fort Dodge. (We’ll keep you posted).
Some great action is just ahead!
