CEDAR FALLS – Remsen St. Mary’s won the Class 8 state football championship on Thursday morning, Nov. 19, with a 48-0 blanking of Fremont-Mills.
You’ll recall that St. Mary’s outlasted Montezuma 108-94 in a semifinals game last week.
The game, played in a virtually empty UNI-Dome, required just over two hours for completion, compared with the four-hour-one-minute game against Montezuma. Both teams stayed pretty much on the ground, so there weren’t a lot of clock stoppages.
St. Mary’s led 27-0 at halftime.
