IOWA FALLS – Freshman from Montezuma Riley Gatton scored 23 points to lead her Des Moines Area Community College Bears to a 77-68 win over Ellsworth Community College on Saturday, Feb. 15.
Gatton was nine-for-15 from the field, including two-for-five from three-point range. She also had four rebounds and two steals.
The Bears have a 10-16 record as they approach the last few games of their regular season.
Gatton continues to lead the team in scoring with an 11.6 per game average.
She has scored 17 points or more in four of her last six games, with three of those being 20 or more points.
Gatton and DMACC, like a lot of athletic teams in the state, have been battling illnesses over the last several weeks.
Her 23-point game was her second-highest total (behind 26) of her season.
