NORTH ENGLISH – The English Valleys Bears scored twice in the bottom of the fifth inning and held on to beat Montezuma, 5-3, in varsity softball on Wednesday, June 8.
The game was tied 3-3 through four innings.
Junior Kallie Robison blasted the first home run of her career during the contest. She was 2×3 at the plate, with two runs batted in and the run she scored on the homer.
She also pitched six innings, allowing eight hits while walking no one and striking out nine.
The Bears outhit Montezuma 8-4.
Kennedy Axmear pitched all seven innings and struck out seven Bravettes.
Axmear went 2×3 at the plate, with a run batted in and a stolen base.
Libby Armstrong went 2×4 at the plate, with two stolen bases.
The defeat dropped Montezuma to 1-9 on the season.
English Valleys rose to 6-4.
