Montezuma High School senior Waverly Roorda has signed a letter of intent to continue her education – and her volleyball career.
Waverly is headed to Mount Mercy University in Cedar Rapids.
She is a daughter of Liesl and Brian Roorda of rural Montezuma.
She was a first team selection as a setter on the all-South Iowa Cedar League team this past fall. She was second in the league with 495 assists, and showed versatility by adding 149 kills.
Waverly was chosen “Our Clutch Player” by her teammates. That is roughly equal to a most valuable player honor.
The Bravettes were 20-17 overall for Coach Katie Dunlap, including an 8-4 mark in league play.
Mount Mercy is a Catholic liberal arts university. The Mustangs were 21-12 during this past fall’s volleyball season.
