IOWA CITY – Montezuma’s girls cross country team had a very strong performance Monday, Sept. 27, placing third behind #1 Mid-Prairie (Class 2A), and #16 Clear Creek-Amana (3A) in the Clipper Invitational.

The meet was held at the Kickers Soccer Club in Iowa City.

Ellen Cook, Alivia Cline and Mia Boulton all were medalists for the Bravettes.

Montezuma Coach Kevin Gartman called Mid-Prairie and Clear Creek-Amana, “two great larger programs.”

Gartman said the varsity boys had a couple runners with near-best paces on a long course, on a hot afternoon.

Ellen Cook, #1191 toward center, leads a bunch of runners at the CC-A Invitational.

In the junior high races, Claire Erselius stood out locally with an eighth-place finish.
