Runners were big fish in smallish pond

EDDYVILLE – There were not a lot of teams running for a big invitational cross country meet.

But, Montezuma did pretty well regardless, in the E-B-F Invitational meet on Tuesday, Sept. 23.

For our girls, it was the best team finish since 2022 – second – out of three scoring teams,” said Montezuma cross country coach Kevin Gartman.

For the boys, best finish in this meet – second – out of three – since 2008,” the coach said.

Well, you control what you can.

We were running hard and competing throughout the races is the goal, not the placing,” Gartman said. “The desire to compete has led us to tonight’s result.

That desire led eighth grader Anderson who her third straight victory in the middle school girl’s race, this one by just about one minute.
