Savages at 17-1 after shutout win over Braves

SIGOURNEY – The Sigourney baseball team, amidst an outstanding 17-1 record, kept it rolling with a 10-0 win over Montezuma in 5 innings on Wednesday evening, June 25.

The defeat dropped the Braves to 4-10.

Montezuma had 5 hits against Sigourney freshman Hunter Selfers.

Easton Hudnut was three-for-three and had a pair of two-base hits.

Rett Pargeon had a hit and Gavin Wilcox was one-for-three.

The Braves were not able to steal any bases and had limited chances to use their speed.

Montezuma made a modest three errors in the contest.

Isaac Wedgewood threw all four innings for the Braves. He allowed 7 hits, 10 runs, just three of them earned. He walked four, hit one and struck out 7.

Sigourney got two hits from Cole Mckay, a home run and a double, and four runs batted in.

The Savages stole two bases and didn’t have an error.

Selfers worked all five innings for the home team. He allowed 5 hits and no runs. He walked 4 and struck out six.

Montezuma’s record stands at 4-10.
