Savages run past Braves late

Montezuma took a 1-0 lead into the fifth inning, but Sigourney poured it on late, scoring 13 runs in the sixth and seventh in a 14-1 run past the Braves on Wednesday, June 7, in Montezuma.

The Braves made just three hits, but made the most of them through the first five innings.

But when Sigourney started making contact, the Savages REALLY made contact!

Jake Moore was four-for-five, and Isaac Bruns was three-for-five, with a triple and four runs batted in.

Garrett Watts was two-for-three, and Broox Stockman had one hit for Montezuma.

The Braves stole five bases, including two by Stockman, and one each by Watts, Colton Benson and Luke Erselius.

Watts pitched the first five innings, giving up six hits and three runs. He walked two and struck out four.

Luke Erselius and Carsten James also sthrew for the Braves.

The loss dropped the Braves to 3-4 on the season.

Sigourney went to 8-4.

Montezuma is idle until Monday, June 12, when the Braves host Belle Plaine.
