April 2
Montezuma schools will now be closed through at least April 30.
Schools superintendent Dave Hoeger made that announcement on Thursday, April 2, citing new guidance from Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds earlier in the day. Schools had been set to re-open April 13.
“This includes all activities as well and we will be looking at alternative dates for activities when school resumes,” Hoeger said.
“More information will come tomorrow (Friday, April 3) regarding Montezuma’s learning plan,” Hoeger said.
Iowa schools have to file a “learning plan” with the state by April 30.
Gov. Reynolds did not call Thursday for Iowa schools to close for the rest of the year.
“Thanks to our families and community for working with us during this very unprecedented time,” Hoeger said.
