Back on Sept. 17, the Bravettes volleyball team scored a 3-1 match victory over Lynnville-Sully. Montezuma won the first set, the Hawks won the second, then the Bravettes closed them out with wins in the third and fourth sets.
Monday night, Oct. 12, they did it again, this time in the second round of the South Iowa Cedar League Tournament.
Scores for the Bravettes in this 3-1 win were 25-16, 16-25, 25-20 and 25-20.
The victory advances Montezuma into the conference semifinals on Thursday. Come back here later, when we hope to to have a location and an opponent for you.
The win lifted Montezuma to 10-5 overall for the season.
Lynnville-Sully fell to 9-7.
UP NEXT – The Bravettes go back into regular season play on Tuesday, Oct. 13, when the frosh-soph, JV and varsity squads travel to Tri-County.
Montezuma’s volleyball team will take center stage in the coming days.
Thursday, Oct. 15 – Finals of the SICL tournament in Belle Plaine. Montezuma plays HLV at 5 p.m., with winner to face winner of Colfax-Mingo vs. Belle Plaine after that.
Monday, Oct. 19 – Regional play begins, with Montezuma hosting first two rounds. Bravettes play Iowa Valley on Monday at 7 p.m. Winner to take on HLV/BGM winner Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 7 p.m.
