SCORES: Big start, finish lift Braves, 76-68

KEOTA – The Montezuma Braves erupted early and late in a 76-68 win over Keota in a battle of league leaders Tuesday night, Jan. 21.

The win puts the Braves alone at the top of the South Iowa Cedar League standings.

Montezuma led 24-11 after one quarter. Then Keota started coming back. The Eagles put up an 18-7 second period to trail 31-29 at half.

Third quarter play was even and Montezuma held a 52-51 lead heading into the final eight minutes.

The Braves pulled away, if ever so slowly, outscoring Keota 24-17 in a fast-paced finish.

Keota is 9-2, with its other defeat coming outside the conference.

Montezuma moved to 10-1, and its loss was outside the league
