THORNBURG – The Montezuma Braves got away to a quick start and didn’t look back in an 83-31 win over winless Tri-County on Tuesday evening, Jan. 7.
The Braves’ defense came up with steals and deflections, leading to transition baskets early in the came.
Later on, Montezuma attacked the rim, leading to some kick-out passes for open three-pointers.
The win lifted the Braves to 7-0, while Tri-County fell to 0-8.
BRAVES NOTE: Montezuma starts out the second half of the season as the second-rated Class 1A team in the Associated Press poll. Montezuma moved up a spot after Algona Bishop Garrigan lost its first game of the season.
