MONTEZUMA – The Montezuma Braves had the answers – on offense and defense – and came away with a huge victory, 56-44, to hand the HLV Warriors their first district defeat.
The game was played Friday, Oct. 11, on a breezy, bitterly cold evening at Badger-Gabriel Field.
HLV took an early lead, but Montezuma went up 20-18 on the last play of the first half on a 10-yard pass from Eddie Burgess to Cole Watts.
The Braves outscored HLV 36-26 in the second half, but didn’t have their final margin until quarterback Burgess ran one in for a score with 3:01 left to play.
Both teams are 5-2 overall. HLV went to 4-1 in District 4 play, while Montezuma is at 3-2.
