COLFAX – Sizzling shooting and strong rebounding helped the Montezuma Braves to an 81-46 win over Colfax-Mingo in varsity boys basketball Friday evening, Dec. 6.
Montezuma shot .588 from the field, which included .524 (11-for-21) from three-point range. The Braves also had a 27-17 lead in rebounds.
Four Braves hit double figures. Trey Shearer scored 25 on nine-for-12 shooting. He also had six rebounds and four assists.
Eddie Burgess put in 16 – on six-for-eight shooting – grabbed 12 rebounds and had four steals.
Masin Shearer scored 15, including four-for-five on treys, and dished three assists.
Cole Watts scored 14 points and pulled down seven rebounds.
The Braves led 18-8 after one quarter, 36-21 at halftime, and 63-38 after three, against a now-1-1 team that had opened its season with a 13-point win over Lynnville-Sully.
The Braves are 2-0.
