Montezuma used two scoring runs to create separation.
Then the Bravettes sustained strong end-to-end overall play to extend their lead in a 79-47 win over Lynnville-Sully Tuesday night, Dec. 17, in Montezuma.
The Bravettes led 15-12 through one quarter, then scored the first 12 points of the second period. Up by 13 points at halftime, Montezuma scored the first six points of the second half, and never looked back.
The Hawks couldn’t answer the firing of Bravettes senior Shateah Wetering, who scored 32 points on 11-for-19 shooting from the field. She also dished nine assists and had five steals.
Elise Boulton scored nine for the Bravettes, and getting eight points each were Shanae Wetering, Maddy McKeag and Mia Boulton.
The Bravettes shot .645 from two-point range, had a 28-16 lead in rebounds, and nine turnovers, compared with 20 by the Hawks.
Montezuma went to 7-0 on the season. Lynnville-Sully is at 5-2.
