SCORES: Football – win and a near-miss

MARENGO – Montezuma’s junior varsity football team got a big come-from-behind win, while the junior high started its season with a loss in a close game.

The contests were played on Monday evening, Sept. 21.

The JV team put up 30 points in the second quarter and raced to a 50-32 victory.

Iowa Valley led 16-6 after one quarter, then the Braves outscored the Tigers 44-16 the rest of the way.

In junior high play, Iowa Valley was a 38-36 winner over the Braves, who were unable to start their season a week ago as scheduled because of COVID concerns.
