Montezuma’s top-rated girls got a feel for their seventh-ranked opponent in the first quarter, then started to get up to speed in the second.
In the third period, the Bravettes hit the afterburners and screamed past the Savages, 67-35, in the only regular season meeting of these two SICL powers on Tuesday, Dec. 19 in Montezuma.
Sigourney led by three points after one quarter, but the Bravettes led by five at halftime.
Montezuma outscored Sigourney 19-2 in the third quarter, with the Savages not getting on the board until the final 30 seconds with a pair of free throws.
The Bravettes finished things with a 19-9 fourth quarter, meaning the second half belonged to Montezuma by a 38-11 margin.
Shateah Wetering scored 23 points for Montezuma, nine of them coming in the third quarter.
Elise Boulton and Dylan Holland each had 10, and Mia Boulton scored nine.
The Bravettes are 8-0 as they end the pre-Christmas portion of their season. Sigourney is 6-2.
