SCORES: Girls run 15th at state cross country

FORT DODGE – The Montezuma High School girls cross country squad placed 15th among the 16 full squads that qualified at the Class 1A state meet on Saturday, Oct. 31.

Elise Boulton was the top individual finisher for the Bravettes, placing 28th in 20:58.7. It was her fourth consecutive appearance in the state cross country meet.

The meet was run in sunny, windy conditions with temperatures in the 40s at Lakeside Municipal Golf Course.

The Bravettes were rated as high as 15th in a state poll earlier in the season. They dropped out of the poll, but came back to make that ranking, by the Iowa Association of Track Coaches, look prophetic.

Finishes and times are listed below. Coach Kevin Gartman will be along later to provide a full assessment of his team’s efforts.
