Well, one thing is certain: Elise Boulton feels better than she did the other night!
Boulton, who missed Tuesday’s win over Baxter because of illness, pumped in 33 points on a school-record nine three-pointers as the Montezuma Bravettes rolled past Collins-Maxwell, 68-49, in a regional tournament semifinal game at home.
The 22-1 Bravettes used three-point shooting, defense, taking care of the basketball, and finishing with accurate free throw shooting in sending themselves into a regional championship game against 20-4 Springville.
That one will be played Wednesday evening, Feb. 26, at Iowa City West.
The Bravettes had big second and fourth quarters. They outscored the Spartans 17-5 in the second to lead 33-19 at the half. Then, they sprinted away with a 21-16 fourth, going 14-for-16 from the free throw line over the final 2:38 of play.
Shateah Wetering scored 19 points for Montezuma and Shelby Conger had 10.
Reagan Franzen, a tough junior forward for the 19-5 Spartans, scored 26. Alexis Hogue was next at 11.
The Bravettes made just eight turnovers to Collins-Maxwell’s 23.
Montezuma also dropped in 15 three-pointers, to just two by the Spartans.
UP NEXT – The fifth-rated Bravettes take on number 10 Springville on Wednesday, Feb. 26, at Iowa City West.
