On paper, it looked like a match: 15-3 Belle Plaine at 15-2 Montezuma.
Out on the hardwood, it was something else. Getting a kick-start from their stingy defense, the Braves cruised at home, 79-41, wrapping up the SICL title, according to Coach Derrick Dengler.
Montezuma led 22-8 after one quarter, 47-21 at the half, and 67-35 through three.
Four Braves scored in double figures. Trey Shearer scored 30 points on 11-for-17 shooting.
Cole Watts scored 17 points and had six assists.
Eddie Burgess scored 12 points, had 14 rebounds and dished five assists.
And Masin Shearer dropped in 13 points. The Braves shot .491 from the field, and held the Plainsmen to .300 shooting.
UP NEXT – The Braves are at Lynnville-Sully on Friday, Feb. 7.
