REINBECK – Rallies in the second and fourth quarters keyed the Montezuma Braves to a 71-65 victory over Gladbrook-Reinbeck on Friday evening, Feb. 14.
The Braves trailed 56-50 after three quarters, but then came the 21-9 fourth period surge that carried the team to victory.
Montezuma trailed 19-14 after one quarter, but outscored the Rebels 22-17 in the second to tie the game at 36-all at the half.
Four Braves scored in double figures. Trey Shearer had 26 points and added seven assists. Cole Watts had 17. Eddie Burgess scored 16 points, grabbed 16 rebounds and had five assists. And Masin Shearer added 10 points.
The win ended Montezuma’s regular season with a 19-2 record.
The Rebels stand at 13-8.
UP NEXT – The Braves open district play at home Thursday, Feb. 20, against HLV (7-16) about 8 p.m., after North Mahaska and Moravia get the night started at 6:30.
