The Bravettes had beaten the Hawks 44-16 earlier in the season.
Monte expected a tough game going to Sully and that is what they got. It was a scrappy defensive battle in the first quarter with Monte leading 3-2 late in the quarter. Then, Sydnee Burgess found Vivian Cook for a buzzer-beating 3-pointer to give the Bravettes a 6-2 lead at the end of the first.
The second quarter was very frustrating for the Bravettes as they scored only 4 points. Lynnville-Sully hit 2 late free throws to make the score 10-7 at halftime.
To start the 3rd quarter, the Hawks got the first 2 baskets to take a 11-10 lead. The Bravettes went on an 18-2 run from there to take control of the game. Montezuma controlled the 4th quarter to win a hard fought battle, 35-20.
